Garda Recruitment campaign 2016
On Friday, 27th of November, Minister Fitzgerald announced a new Garda recruitment Campaign. Six hundred new Gardaí will be recruited in 2016. There will be a special selection stream for eligible serving Garda reserve members. Read more

New Court of Appeal
On Thursday, 26th of November, Minister Fitzgerald attended the official opening of the new Court of Appeal building.The Court of Appeal was established following the enactment of the Court of Appeal Act 2014.
Minister Fitzgerald welcomes President Higgins to the historic Public Records Office and home to the new Court of Appeal - 26 November 2015. The Public Records Building in the Four Courts complex was chosen as the venue for the new Court, its judges and some of its staff.

Parole Board Annual Report 2014

Minister for Justice and Equality, Frances Fitzgerald, published the Annual Report of the Parole Board for 2014 on 25 November 2015.
The Minister said: "Once again I would like to thank the Chairman, Mr John Costello and the members of the Board for their report.
“The Parole Board plays a vital role which is much valued and appreciated. In particular, I would like to acknowledge the work of the Board in helping to encourage all eligible prisoners to participate in the parole process."
Minister Fitzgerald commended the Garda Commissioner and the Garda National Immigration Bureau on the success of 'Operation Vantage' which is designed to tackle facilitators of sham marriages and illegal immigration. Read more

Commenting on the Garda Operation which saw over 200 Gardaí deployed in raids on 42 locations, the Minister said, “Operation Vantage, assisted by officials of the immigration service of my Department, sends an unequivocal message to those who would abuse our immigration laws that their actions will not be tolerated.
"All necessary enforcement measures will be taken against such persons. They can expect to face the full force of our criminal and immigration laws.
“This operation is not a once-off intervention. It forms part of an overall response being led by my Department including preventing marriages of convenience from taking place and taking a fresh look at past cases with a view to revoking immigration permissions that may have been obtained under false pretences.”

On Monday 23rd November the Department of Justice and Equality hosted an Open Policy Debate on Proposals for a Criminal Justice Inspectorate. Read more

Launching the White Ribbon Ireland event
On 25th of November, Minister Fitzgerald attended the launch of the White Ribbon Campaign to 'help end men's violence against women'.
White Ribbon Ireland’s Pledge: to ‘help end men’s violence against women’; White Ribbon Ireland is the national movement of the world's largest male-led campaign to end men's violence.

Major development at Limerick Prison
On 26th November, Minister Fitzgerald announced the commencement of a public consultation process on planning proposals for a major development at Limerick Prison. The proposed development will see the end of the practice of slopping out at Limerick prison and will also include a new accommodation block for female prisoners. Read more
International Charity Regulators Conference
On Thursday, 26th of November, Minister Fitzgerald gave the keynote address at the International Charity Regulators Conference in Dublin. The Charities Regulatory Authority together with the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland hosted the 2015 meeting of the International Charity Regulators in Dublin and Belfast from 24 - 26 November. On Friday, 27th of November, Minister Fitzgerald gave the opening address at the Irish Penal Reform Trust (IPRT) conference, where the theme was ‘securing responsibility in the Prison Service’. Read more
